Hi, I was wondering if there is an elegant way to capture a Cadence schematic or waveform plot? Today I usually capture the screen using either xv if I am in Unix/Linux or MWSnap if I am in Windows through a VPN system. However the captured images are not all that great, they look just ok in PowerPoint/Word. I am wondering if there's an elegant way to do it. Thank you.

You can screen capture the plot using freesoftware like MWSnap and then save it as jpeg/gif. You can also save cadence plot as postscript or pdf and convert using freeware like xv

I set up an HPGL printer to print to a file and then imported that into other files. It gives a cleaner schematic, I have never been gappy with the jpg outputs

I wrote a perl script at one point to handle this. You will need to make get jpegtran (can rotate jpg because cadence is almost always off 90 degrees) and gs ghost script is on most linux/unix machines. Search the internet for this and install in a path directory. Here it is: (add a pound sign and add new line after each semi colon the blog strips line feed and anything after the pound sign) (add pound here) !/usr/bin/perl -w (new line and add pound here)use strict; $var1="";$var2="";$var3="";system('pwd >pwd.file');system('ls >ls.file');open(PWDFILE, "<pwd.file") or die "no pwd.file";while(<PWDFILE>) { my($line)=$_; chomp($line); $var2=$line;}close PWDFILE;open(LSFILE, "<ls.file") or die "no ls.file";while(<LSFILE>) { my($line) = $_; chomp($line); if($line =~ m/.ps/) {($var1,$var3) = split(/./,$line);print"gs -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=jpeg -r300x300 -dBATCH -sOutputFile=$var2/$var1.jpg $var2/$var1.$var3n";print"jpegtran -rotate 90 $var2/$var1.jpg > $var2/$var1H.jpgn";system("gs -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=jpeg -r300x300 -dBATCH -sOutputFile=$var2/$var1.jpg $var2/$var1.$var3");system("jpegtran -rotate 90 $var2/$var1.jpg > $var2/$var1H.jpg");}}close LSFILE;system("rm pwd.file");system("rm ls.file");
