Now that the NHL is officially on board to send gamers to the 2014 Olympics,
USA Nowadays Sports activities hockey columnist Kevin Allen offers his
projections on who is probably to be playing for the U.S. crew subsequent
February:

Goalies: Jonathan Swift (Los Angeles Kings), Ryan Miller (Buffalo
Sabres) and Jimmy Howard (Detroit Red Wings)

Story line: When David Poile was named general manager of Group USA http://www.usaolympicshockey.com/Ryan_Suter_Olympics_Hockey_Jersey,
he was very clear that the goaltending selections will be made on the basis of
who is enjoying effectively at the commence of the 2013-14 NHL season. The
ultimate selections will not be manufactured right up until all around
Christmas. That means Cory Schneider (New Jersey Devils) could very easily be in
the mix or maybe Craig Anderson (Ottawa Senators).

Far more: NHL to send players to Sochi

Centers: Ryan Kesler (Vancouver Canucks) http://www.usaolympicshockey.com/Joe_Pavelski_Olympics_Hockey_Jersey,
Paul Stastny (Colorado Avalanche), Derek Stepan (New York Rangers) and David
Backes (St. Louis Blues).

Story line: Center is a place of concern simply because the USA does
not have a dominant No. one center like a Sidney Crosby, Steven Stamkos or Pavel
Datsyuk. Will not count out Joe Pavelski (San Jose Sharks). He is in the combine
for one of these spots. Kesler's capability to stay healthy has to be a concern.
The Americans could consider to consider out of the box, like moving Patrick
Kane (Chicago Blackhawks). The Americans have a lot more quality wingers than
high quality centers.

Left wings: Zach Parise (Minnesota Wild), Max Pacioretty (Montreal
Canadiens), James Van Riemsdyk (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Bobby Ryan (Ottawa)

Story line: T.J. Oshie (St. Louis) could be in this mix ahead of the
determination is completed. It would seem likely that the choice committee will
contemplate some players who can add spunk.

Correct wings: Kane, Phil Kessel (Toronto), Ryan Callahan (New York
Rangers) and Dustin Brown (Los Angeles)

Story line: America's collection of right wings gives a mix pace,
talent, grit and toughness. Kane is even far more harmful on the big ice, and
Kessel can use his velocity to get advantage of the added 15 feet width on the
worldwide rink. Callahan and Brown are locks since they can play at a higher
degree offensively and supply bodily play.

Thirteenth and/or 14th forward: Alex Galchenyuk (Montreal) and Jason
Pominville (Minnesota)

Story line: Galchenyuk is a single of the wild cards in the American
plan. He is hugely experienced, but he is only 19. He demonstrated his possible
value by scoring the shootout purpose to give the Americans the bronze medal at
the 2013 planet championships. Do not rule out Blake Wheeler (Winnipeg Jets)
acquiring 1 of individuals spots, and the choice committee has lots of interest
in Justin Abdelkader (Detroit) as a man who could fill the need to have for a
hard, fourth-line vitality guy.

Defensemen: Jack Johnson (Columbus Blue Jackets), Ryan Suter
(Minnesota), Ryan McDonagh (New York Rangers), Justin Faulk (Carolina
Hurricanes), Paul Martin (Pittsburgh Penguins), Kevin Shattenkirk (St. Louis),
Keith Yandle (Phoenix Coyotes), Erik Johnson (Colorado) and Brooks Orpik
(Pittsburgh)

Story line: The American defense is far from settled Dustin
Brown Olympic Jersey
. Jack Johnson, Suter and McDonagh are locks, and Faulk
is close to a lock Cam
Fowler Jersey
. But the USA's depth on defense is so strong that that the
ultimate four or 5 spots could be considered a wide-open race. It would be easy
to see Cam Fowler (Anaheim Ducks) generating the defensive group. You also have
to keep an eye on John Carlson (Washington Capitals). No determination has been
created whether or not to bring eight or nine defensemen http://www.usaolympicshockey.com/Phil_Kessel_Olympics_Hockey_Jersey.
Other individuals could phase into contention, but these are the guys with the
ideal chance.
